The Best In-Between-Seasons Pieces

Best In-Between-Seasons Pieces | Rachael Adele Lifestyle Blog

The first day temperatures reach 60, my winter coat is retired to the back of the closet. Never mind that it might be 30 the next, that coat is not seeing the light of day until next November. Bundling and layering can be so restricting, it’s refreshing to be able to let my skin breathe in lighter, airier pieces.

Admittedly, I’ve been throwing on athletic wear lately because I’ve grown bored of my winter sweaters and jeans. Last week, I decided it necessary to get out of my winter funk by purchasing a few new items that would get me back into the habit of dressing like a put-together human. I’ve listed off several items that have been renewing my love for getting dressed each morning.

AIRY BLOUSES

My favorite in-between seasons pieces are light blouses that can be paired with pants or shorts for those warmer days. They can be layered with a cardigan or jacket, a pair of slides or boots. There are so many beautiful, feminine pieces out there right now! I found this blouse last week, have already work it twice and received several compliments on it.

LIGHT JACKETS

Spring weather in Kansas City is especially fickle: warm and sunny one day, snowing the next. It helps to have a few lighter options that you can throw on when the days/night are a bit cooler. Some of my favorites spring styles are bomber jackets, biker jackets, and the classic trench.

SPRING DENIM

I like to rotate my denim the same as the rest of my closet. I live in dark washes during the colder months, so lighters washes and cropped jeans are such a welcomed change of pace.

Weekend Wear: The Denim Jacket

Spring Style: Jean Jacket | Rachael Adele Lifestyle Blog

I spent some serious quality time with Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts this weekend. The O.C. is now on Hulu and I can’t get enough of the dramatic party exits, relationship woes, and high school nostalgia in all it’s Califorrrrniaa glory (that theme song gets me every time). A lot of the styling on the show is certainly cringe-worthy, but it’s not crazy to say that the then popular trends are making their way back into our lives today.

The denim jacket is a particular blast-from-the-past item I’ve stayed away from until now. I found this one a few weeks back and hesitantly tried it on with this top in mind because it’s such a weird color to pair with anything but I LOVE IT. And so denim jacket phase two begins. Kansas City weather is perplexing this time of year. 70 degrees one day and 40 the next. So a solid collection of light outerwear is a must. It’s so versatile, it’s already become a spring staple – I’m sold! Let’s all just agree that the midriff-bearing, barely-there halters of O.C. past aren’t going to happen again, okay?

One of the most satisfying activities for me is purging all the things every spring. I’m a huge believer in spring cleaning. I’ve steadily been tackling projects over the past few weekends – donating old clothes, deep cleaning the kitchen, organizing the linen closet, making room for new plants and herbs on the patio, etc.

I’ve put together a list of things I’ve had my eye one recently for both the home and closet. Out with the old, in with the new! It feels good, right?
